June 26, 2010   |   engagement

This is definitely the season for engagement sessions! I shot Katie and Dan’s e-session yesterday in Lincoln Park. Our original plan was to meet at the LP Zoo. However, we arrived to find that the zoo was closed for a concert. No worries, though. These two roll with the punches. So, we ended up shooting at the lily pond and around North Pond instead. We had some beautiful light, and these two are obviously very photogenic. I loved how playful they were with each other, and that really came out in the photos. Here are some teasers.

LOVE this one.

Isn’t Katie gorgeous?

This evening, I met Nicole and Adam downtown for a very colorful engagement session. This may be my favorite engagement session this year. It is proof, yet again, that doing a walking tour of an interesting neighborhood–and being up for anything–is the best way to get great photos. We started the shoot near Northwestern’s campus on Chicago Ave. Then, we found these AWESOME stairs at the MCA. I can’t say it enough: saturated colors and interesting textures make better backgrounds than gardens or fountains. Thanks to Nicole and Adam for being up for anything (and for being so freaking adorable). Here are my favorite shots.

Can’t express how much I love these two photos.

I had the pleasure of shooting yet another great family this past weekend. And, once again, this is a family that I’ve worked with before (I photographed James when he was still crawling). Now, they have a new addition: little baby Caroline. She is a sweetie! We did photos with the whole family at their home. Though a photoshoot with a 1-month-old and a toddler can be challenging (see below for photographic proof), we managed to get some great shots!

What’s cuter than baby feet?

Oh, I know! Baby AND big brother feet.

I love everything about this photo:

I hope Bridget doesn’t hate me for posting this. I actually love this photo. This is what it is like when you (and by you, I mean every single mom, dad and photographer) try to get two itty bitties in one photo.

But James is a doll, really.

One last one of Caroline and her proud parents.
