April 28, 2011   |   Boudoir

Last weekend, I had another awesome boudoir marathon at the Trump International Hotel in downtown Chicago. Usually, boudoir marathons bring a mix of gals: some I’ve met before and some I’ve never met. That can make a photog nervous, but I’m such a lucky girl. This group of gals–as usual–were AMAZING. They came with suitcases full of outfits and more excitement than I could possibly hope for.

Once I again, I worked with Melissa from Sonia Roselli’s team. She helped my already beautiful clients feel even better about themselves. It’s so fun to watch each girl look in the mirror after hair and make-up and scream, “Is that really me?!” Yes, it’s you. And–as these photos reveal–you’re all totally fabulous. A special thanks to the girls that allowed me to post these sneak peeks. Who wouldn’t be proud of pictures like these?

My last boudoir marathon of 2011 will be on Saturday, September 24th. Email me if you’re interested!

A floor heater never looked so good.

Legs for days.

April 24, 2011   |   engagement

Lindsay and Anu have the kind of bicoastal romance that movies are made of. She goes to graduate school in Boston; he works in San Francisco. It only makes sense that they’d meeting in the middle for their engagement photos and their wedding, right? Enter Chicago.

As most of you know, April is living up to its rainy expectations. The past couple of weeks have been gloomy, cold, and wet. I’ve had to cancel a few shoots and, since Lindsay and Anu were flying to Chicago just for their photos, I was worried the weather may put a damper on their shoot, too. However, we got lucky! We ended up shooting on one of the only sunny days we’ve had in a long while.

I met these two at North Pond. It’s no secret that this is one of my favorite places in the city (for photos and for peace). In fact, I just shot Bridget and Jim’s photos there last weekend. It can be a challenge to try to make the same spot feel brand new, but I just try my best to let the couple’s personalities and style guide the shoot. These two were timeless and romantic. Each time they walked away from me, Anu put his arm around Lindsay’s back. I hope these pictures represent a small part of that.

I usually try to avoid the sun, but I like how saturated the color is in these shots.

Is Anu handsome or what?

Lindsay is gorgeous, too!

You know I love a quick outfit change.

We shot right before dusk. So, really, this is the kind of soft light I was looking for. See how much it differs from the photos in bright sunlight? Love these.

Usually, I come into a couple’s life right after they’ve gotten engaged. There’s a ring. There’s a pending wedding. A couple of years later, there’s a baby.

So, when Bridget and Jim won my “Cutest Couples” contest last fall, I was so excited to get to work with a couple before they were engaged. Bridget and Jim epitomize young love, and their casual Sunday morning photoshoot was so fun and easy (just like young love should be). These two are also no strangers. Last year, I shot the weddings of both Bridget’s older sister and older brother. The year before that, I shot the wedding of her sister-in-law.

It was great to meet them again in Lincoln Park for this we’re-in-love-so-why-not-get-some-cute-photos shoot. Who knows–maybe an engagement shoot is next? (Hint, hint.)

I love that they played on the swings.

LOVE these two. GORGEOUS. And that early morning light? Divine.

Bridget’s bright pink coat really made the shoot.

You’re beautiful, Bridget!
