Last year, I shot Erica and Josh’s beautiful wedding. So, when Erica emailed me to say she was pregnant and wanted me to shoot some maternity photos, I was thrilled! It’s so exciting to work with couples through various stages of their lives.

Because summer scheduling can be tough, we had to wait several weeks for the shoot, finally shooting right as Erica hit full term. It was great photographing the belly in full effect! Erica and Josh also just moved into a new and amazingly gorgeous home, complete with a rooftop deck and a view of the city. So, not only do these photos document their first pregnancy, but they also document their new home.

I absolutely love this shoot. Erica and Josh trusted me enough to let me play style director. When I encouraged them to put on some “comfy” clothes and shoot some in their bedroom, they didn’t protest one bit. These photos were totally what I had in mind! Congrats, you two!

First, we shot a couple photos in the newly-decorated nursery!

Then, we headed up to the deck just in time for golden hour!

“Hike that shirt up!”

Could Erica be any more gorgeous?

LOVE this shot.

And this one!

The soon-to-be Mom and Dad.

Yesterday, I shot Monica and Dan’s engagement session in my/our favorite Chicago neighborhood: Andersonville! I first met these two nearly 5 (right??) years ago when I shot Monica’s sister’s wedding. At that time, Dan was a groomsmen, Monica was a bridesmaid, and they had no idea that they would fall in love and get engaged.

Monica also is the reason we can go on vacation. You see, she’s the only person in all of Chicagoland that we’d trust to watch our (many) furry babies while we’re away.

So, needless to say, I was thrilled to shoot this engagement session! Can’t wait for their wedding next May at Architectural Artifacts. In the meantime, here are some shots from our shoot!

We started our shoot at Vincent restaurant. It’s the place where Dan proposed, and we had private access (thanks to Voni). Monica and Dan’s pup, Leland, joined us for the shoot.

This is where they sat the night of the proposal!

Next, we headed to the alleyways for some more urban shots.

How cute and happy are these two?

Y’all love I know a pooch and shoe shot.

Kimmy and Taylor are getting married in Boston, but they wanted to have their engagement photos in the city where they currently live: Chicago! I’ve worked with Kimmy before, and I was so excited to work with her and Taylor for this shoot. When Kimmy told me they wanted to do their engagement session at Lightology–an amazing lighting warehouse space downtown–I got all giddy. I’ve been hearing about Lightology for years, but I’d never been.

Needless to say, I now know what all the fuss is about. The rooftop space–which the owner of Lightology is kind enough to open to the public–is UNBELIEVABLE. There are so many spots of interest, and the space is really versatile. It was the perfect backdrop to showcase these two cuties. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot!

I loved this wall of sconces!

A little bit of green space and a little bit of alley: perfection!

This gorgeous vine structure was the reason Kimmy chose this location, and I’m with her!

LOVE this shot!
