This past weekend, I shot family photos with little Marra and her lovely family–a family I’ve shot with for years! The weather wasn’t very cooperative (is it ever in Chicago?), but Shauna, the best momma, knew to dress her chickens in bright colors to make up for the otherwise gloomy skies.

It’s always tricky to shoot family photos with a toddler, and I joked with Shauna and Mark that, one day, both girls will hit that perfect age, and family photos will be a cinch. 😉

However, as always, we managed to capture some pretty great moments. Here are some sneak peeks!

I forget what dance Marra’s parents were coaxing her to do, but it is hilarious!

The family’s newly adopted Frenchie, Gabby, couldn’t be more patient and loving with the girls. She deserves some blog love, too!

May 20, 2013   |   engagement

Stephanie and Aaron are friends of ours that are getting married this summer in Mexico, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them! But, since they both live in and love Chicago, they wanted their engagement photos to be in the city. So, we took advantage of the beautiful weather, and did a shoot around town.

This is such a gorgeous time of year in Chicago, and we wanted to show off the skyline, the lake, and–of course–these two soon-to-be-married lovebirds. I love everything about these photos–from the white blossoms to the light at dusk. Most of all, though, I love how perfect Stephanie and Aaron are together, and I can’t wait until the wedding!

In the meantime, enjoy these sneak peeks!

I may have put Aaron on the spot by telling him to whisper sweet nothings into Stephanie’s ear. That’s okay, though. He was adorably nervous and that just made us all giggle endlessly!

HELLO! Could they be any hotter?

May 7, 2013   |   wedding

Monica and Dan were married this past Sunday at Architectural Artifacts–one of the coolest offbeat wedding venues in Chicago.

I first met these two several years ago when I photographed Monica’s sister’s wedding. Monica and Dan were both in the wedding party for that event, but they didn’t know that they’d eventually walk down the aisle themselves!

It’s always fun to work with families that I’ve worked with before, but this group is just one of my favorites. They are so silly and easy-going–all qualities that make for great clients… and great married couples!

Here are some sneak peeks from one of my all-time favorite weddings. Enjoy!

Monica looked SO gorgeous.

See what I mean?

One of the great things about Architectural Artifacts is that there are a gazillion little corners that make for awesome photo-ops.

Monica’s three sisters help her get dressed.

A sweet moment from the first look.

And a few shots from the ceremony.

When you have a couple that looks at one another like this, you can’t help but take good photos.

Absolutely ADORE this shot.

And this one.

And… okay, you get the idea.

And some great reactions from toasts.
