This summer has presented Chicago with some of the wackiest summer weather I’ve experienced thus far! It’s rained… and rained… and rained. For everyone, I think it’s been one of the rainiest wedding seasons to date!
So, we were happy to see that the forecast for this past Saturday boasted partially sunny skies and–gasp!–no rain! However, a rainless wedding day just wasn’t in the cards, apparently, because the rain came down in buckets as we drove to the site of the OUTDOOR ceremony.
Everyone kept calm, especially the bride, Ellyn, but we were all secretly hoping for a miracle. We got to their venue, Ignite Glass Studios, and started getting ready. Ellyn had just put her dress on when, amidst a dark and dreary downpour, the power went off. You heard me, people: glass furnaces raging, 94 degree humidity blaring, and no A/C!
Any other bride–including myself–would have FREAKED, but Ellyn stayed calm, cool, and collected the entire time. And, whaddya know? Just as we were about to do photos, the rain stopped. We went up to the roof top, and we had the most dramatic skies for Ellyn and Brent’s portraits. Then, an hour later, the sun was fully blazing for the ceremony!
In the end, I absolutely love the mood set by the grey skies. And I love, even more, that Ellyn and Brent were such an awesome couple. The whole day, they focused on what was most important: their marriage to one another.
Here are some sneak peeks from a (partially) rainy–but glorious–wedding!
The lovely Ellyn, touching up her lip gloss right after we lost power!
Can you even handle the cuteness of this flower girl’s floral crown?!
See what I mean? Look at that light!
I love when couples do something so naturally sweet–like this–and I just yell, “FREEZE!”
How gorgeous are these two?! (And that skyline ain’t too shabby, either!)
Time for the ceremony! The sun was blaring.
I loved that Ellyn and Brent’s parents joined them during the beginning of the ceremony!
Dabbing some sweat… or tears? 😉
I adore the first kiss, but what I adore even more are the stolen moments after the recessional, when the newly married couple thinks no one is watching!
First dance!
Right as the sun set, we ran up to the roof to snap a few more shots. IN LOVE WITH THESE!
The Z Orchestra kept the guests dancing all night long!
Brent’s groomsmen were especially rowdy. 😉
