Lindsay & Anu :: Cultural Center Chicago Wedding

This weekend, I shot two weddings. I rarely ever do double-wedding weekends. The truth is, shooting two weddings in a row is a ridiculous amount of work, and I like to be 100% for all of my couples. However, a few years ago, I shot Lindsay’s brother’s wedding at the Newberry Library. Since then, the family has gotten me a ton of business through word-of-mouth. So, when Lindsay said that she’d really like for me to shoot her wedding to Anu, I couldn’t say no.

These two were married at the Chicago Cultural Center on Friday night. My last wedding–Courtney and Erik–was also at the CCC. And actually, Lindsay and Courtney are Harvard buddies. The similarities don’t stop there. I showed up to find that Lindsay’s girls were wearing identical navy bridesmaids dresses and carrying similar yellow bouquets. There was also a joke about eating spicy curry in both sets of toasts. Oh, and just like a couple of weeks ago, Lindsay and Anu’s wedding day was a little rainy. So, needless to say, I was having deja vu. I knew that I’d have to work extra hard to make sure that the photos were different (despite shooting in may of the same locations).

Truthfully, though, it didn’t matter. Lindsay and Anu are so in love and they are as kind to each other as any couple I’ve ever met. At the end of the day, I just wanted the photos to show that. And I think they do.

This may be my favorite dress shot ever. Thanks to Meredith and Lindsay’s mom for helping me set it up!

Lindsay and Anu chose to do a first look, and it made their day go so much more smoothly. Here is Lindsay–spying on her soon-to-be husband–right before we did it.

SO happy to see his soon-to-be wife.

Lindsay looked BEAUTIFUL.

We ran to the Laurie Gardens for–literally–like 5 minutes. We were afraid to get caught in a rain storm, but we didn’t want to pass up the chance to shoot in these beautiful patches of lavender.

I love a couple that is willing to take a chance for a good photo!

Walking around the city.

When we got back to the Cultural Center, the bridal party was waiting for the couple. They were so excited to see them!

Lindsay’s dad officiated the ceremony. So special.

Love the way they are looking at each other in this one.

Married!

The Cultural Center is such a beautiful venue.

Anu’s brother surprised everyone with Bollywood dancers!

And right before I left, one of the bridesmaids took to the microphone to perform “Proud Mary!”
