Last fall, I got an email telling me that Summer and Eric’s DIY wedding was going to be featured in Eco-Beautiful Weddings–an amazing wedding magazine. Needless to say, I was thrilled! Then the editor, Katie, wrote me the nicest email telling me that–although they were about to publish their Winter 2010 issue–they really felt Summer and Eric’s feature would be a better fit for Spring 2011. It was a lesson in patience!
Well, all the waiting has paid off! The magazine came out this week, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of such a gorgeous publication. Head on over to Eco-Beautiful Weddings to check out the whole issue!
As you may remember, this wedding was also featured on the wonderful Elizabeth Anne Designs blog. It’s because Summer and Eric had a full vision for their DIY wedding–a fresh color scheme, a clear aesthetic–that made it so attractive to wedding publications. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: You want your wedding to get published? Make sure there is a “look.” Make sure you’ve thought about every photograph–from getting ready to the reception. Do the pictures tell the story? Is there a clear and unique style? Are there lots of details that other couples can be inspired by? Remember: Editors (and readers) want to see photos that give them ideas for future weddings. These are all the things that publications look for (like Leah and Brian’s organic fall wedding that was featured on Style Unveiled), and these are the things that will land your wedding in a magazine, too!
